Anybody here ever hear of the 80's post punk band Naked Raygun out of the Chicago, IL area ? Guitarist James Haggerty later went on to form the ban Pegboy and the singer formed a band called The bomb.

NR was one of my favorite bands back in the late 80's along with RKL (Rich Kids on LSD) and the Crumbsuckers (from New York). I still love NR's albums Jettison and Throb throb but my favorite song of theirs has to be Vanilla Blue.

That Chicago sene was hot back in the late 80's and early 90's. a lot of bands came out of there like Smashing Pumpkins, Big Black, Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid, etc...

I don't think Pegboy or The Bomb were as good as Naked raygun was...

Smashing Pumpkins did a "reunion" tour last summer and fall. I was lucky enough to be up in Delaware because they had four show in the Philadelphia are and I got to see them again but in all honesty, they just seemed to be off.

The last time I'd seen them live was their farewell gig in Chicago in the late 90's. I was lucky enough to be living in Chicago at the time. I also got to meet some of the guys from Naked Raygun around that time because I saw a skater kid with a Naked Raygun t-shirt at the Oakbrook Mall and I had to ask him where he got the shirt and after talking for a while I found out he was James Haggerty's brother.

One of my early punk bands played with Smashing Pumpkins way back in 1991 at a club called Washington Square on South Beach. It was a Monday night and all of 11 people (besides the bands and their crews) showed up. Billy let me video their set and I've been meaning to rip the VHS to DVD because there are some really cool moments on it

i look forward to seeing that one.

I have to confess being an old muso. i do find it hard to listen to most live gigs after listening to a studio recording. In my opinion 99 % of bands can not reproduce the same quality live. However some can.
